• How would you describe your personality in 5 words or less?
      • Intuitive, Trustworthy, Tenacious, Respectful and Mischievous
  • Tell us a little about yourself! Where are you from and what’s your story?
      • Being a military “brat”, I’ve lived mostly in Japan and Hawaii.  I consider Hawaii home however and that’s what I’m sticking with.  However, I’m officially a Los Angeles transplant (30+ years) who married a genuine Southern California blonde (lucky me).  My career has evolved around the hotel industry and digital marketing, which has exposed me to a plethora of different industries from local businesses, television & film, airlines, luxury home rentals, and national businesses.   I closed my business earlier this year and so fortunate to have found StringCan.
  • How did you get your first name?
      • My dad’s favorite ballad, “Danny Boy” was playing on the way to the hospital.  I dread recalling this especially since it’s a funeral song amongst the Irish.
  • What can we find you doing outside of the office? What are your passions?
      • I thrive on being outdoors in warm weather by the ocean (growing up in Hawaii influenced this). The majority of summers is about outdoor living (no camping however) with our 2 “fur-kids”, cooking and reflecting on all that we’re thankful for.  I love experimenting with new recipes, discovering incredible wines and awesome bourbons.  But most importantly relishing life with my wife.

Fun:

  • If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
      • Akio Morita, Co-Founder, CEO and COB of Sony Corporation.  Along with a partner and $375 took a small radio repair shop inside of a bombed-out Tokyo building to eventually create the Sony Corporation.   His business strength was in studying Western and Eastern cultures to combine the best parts of each.
    • What are your plans for this holiday/weekend?
      • Taking a break from the routine hectic family events to slower paced and more intimate family events.  Spending more time with my 94 year old father-in-law.
  • If you were reincarnated as an animal/drink/ice cream flavor, what would it be?
  • You just won a million dollars, what is the most irresponsible purchase you’re going to make?
      • Trip around the world but AFTER my wife and I determine how we could best make a difference to either a worthy cause or people that we could help.
  • What’s your latest streaming video binge?
  • What’s your favorite YouTube video and why?
      • Andrea Bocelli’s performance from an empty Milan cathedral with montages of empty streets of Paris, London, and New York during the Covid lockdown.  Four great songs ending with “Amazing Grace” has been streamed more than 25 million times!

Business:

  • What are you most looking forward to by working at StringCan?
      • After 18 years of owning an agency, I’m excited to experience new perspectives from this group.  I took 6 months in hopes of finding a group that was genuine, respectful, cohesive, intelligent, and fun. I appreciate the privilege and pleasure of joining an amazing team that Jay and Sarah have created.
  • What will clients enjoy most about working with you?
      • My uncanny ability to understand your needs, interpret the geeky tech talk so you can relate, and helping you meet expectations.  I’ve been described as pretty laid back but internally a tenacious marketeer striving to optimize your sales opportunities.
  • How do you plan on making a difference for StringCan and for our clients?
      • I started off as a Sales/Marketing Director leading sales teams targeting both National and Asian markets.  Understanding the sales and funnel process, my strength is utilizing online channels to be equally measurable and productive.
  • What do results mean to you?
      • Accountability.   I thrive on measurability and as I’ve been known to over-quote, “lead with the numbers to substantiate your marketing”.
  • What is your proudest accomplishment and why?
      • Starting my own business and client retention that averaged over 12 years.  In addition to this, it would be convincing my wife to marry me and my children.
